Fritz von Freist

My story

Fritz on Freist is a stunning 2 year-old German Shepherd on the smaller side. Although he is initially shy with new people, he will become your friend for life once he gets comfortable. Fritz has lived in a home, and was great with his people, but is a believer of social distancing around new people. With staff at the rescue, he is very friendly & and sweet and will adorably rub up on you like a cat and ask for pets, demonstrating his affectionate side. Housebroken and treat-motivated, Fritz loves showing off his commands and learning new skills. When on a walk, Fritz heels easily when reminded and loves to wag his tail at his doggie neighbors (especially if they are all walking together in the same pack). For fun, Fritz can be seen greeting other dogs on the playground and will always play when invited, so we think he would love another playful pup in the home (but no cats please). Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
