Stella has been doing great! After three months together, I have learned a lot about Stella's personality! She loves people and seeing what you're up to. Now that we have made it through the winter, Stella is all about the warm weather and outdoors. If the sun is out, she loves to sunbathe on the porch steps or go on a long walk. Overall, Stella is a medium to high energy dog. She loves to play and zoom, but once she has gotten her fix, she is fine to settle in for the night. She recently has started bringing her favorite toy to me when I am sitting on the couch to play tug of war or a little bit of fetch! Stella is comfortable in her crate and sleeps there overnight. She is potty trained as well and knows sit, down, and stay. She is pretty good on leash too, although she is dog reactive if you let her fixate on other dogs. As long as you redirect her early on, she is good and listens to sit most times, even in busy areas - especially if you have a treat! She also recently had a good walk with another dog and by taking it slow, we built up to walking side by side without issue. She loves new people so much and wants to shower them in kisses but due to her exuberance a home without small children would be best. Stella is also great in the car. If you are looking for a happy-go-lucky dog that will put you at the center of her world, Stella is the dog for you. She is sassy and sweet and is sure to make you laugh and brighten your day. If you are interested in learning more about Stella, you can reach me (her foster mom) at jesslongstfosters@gmail.com Notes from her friends in the shelter: On 1/15 a volunteer noted: When I met her on Sunday, Stella enthusiastically greeted me at her kennel door. She was easy to leash and take out of her kennel. I also had no problem returning her. During our walk, Stella appeared to be happy to be out for a walk. Every now and then, Stella would start to zoomie or just display a little bounce in her step. But whenever I showed her a treat, Stella would stop and sit patiently. SHe accepted the treats gently. Overall, she was very easy to manage and fun to walk. On 1/15 a volunteer noted: Such a good girl! Was so cuddly in the yard and loved treats! She was very excited once we got outside but after getting to run in the pen, she was much calmer on the leash. She adores people and was so fun to hangout with! On 1/7 Staff noted that Stella decided she had enough of being in isolation and was trying to escape her kennel. On 12/28 a volunteer stated: Stella is a happy and wiggly gal! She was excited to go out this morning and we took a nice long walk. She's very food motivated. She wasn't too interested in toys today but allowed me to give her pets. She appeared to be searching either for her people or babies. She was easy to return to kennel. On 12/27 staff stated: Stella was very calm, cool, and collected during playgroup. She was very appropriate the entire time. She did give some corrections when other dogs were jumping on her or too much in her space. She seemed to want to hang out with the humans more than the other dogs, but probably would be a gentle and dainty player. She spent a fair amount of time in the yard minding her business, exploring, and occasionally greeting other dogs. On 12/24 staff stated: Stella is such a sweet girl! She is very handler oriented and wiggles to everyone she meets. She loves giving hugs and allows all over handling staying loose. Very easy to handle overall, just slightly jumpy. Takes treats very gently. Can be a tad chaotic on leash outside! A bit stubborn on where she wants to go, usually walks well just has some spurts of heavy pulling. Adult-only home preferred due to giving lots of hugs/jumping.
