***In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society's physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. ***Juniper (aka Juni, June, Junebug) is a 7-year-old pittie. She loves to play and cuddle and lick faces. In her younger years, she had boundless energy. Now, she has calmed down significantly and sleeps most the day but still enjoys a morning walk and afternoon 10-minute game of tug or a less physically strenuous ball chase. She loves a sunspot (indoors or outdoors) and will prefer to spend her day perfecting her sweet potato tan, especially in the summer. She would thrive in a home with a big backyard or balcony for maximum play and sun baking. Juniper sleeps independently at night and during the day but likes to cuddle midday/afternoon if you are open to it.She is extremely smart and trainable/treat motivated. She's house broken and knows all her basic commands. She is most hyper when introduced to someone new. She is liable to jump up if not introduced properly and patiently (this usually takes about 5 min and a bunch of treats). She eats and naps in her crate as she wishes, but typically has free reign at night and when out of the house. It might take some work to make nightly crating a habit, if that's needed. Recall is not something we consistently worked on, but with dedicated training, I'm sure she could learn this. Juniper is very trusting and friendly with most humans. She has always done well with dog walkers and the animal daycare staff.Juniper is highly selective with dog friends. She has lived with another other dog before and has successfully made other dog friends. That said, she has demonstrated some boundary aggression (can be triggered by leashes and fences) and her need for dominance limits the ability for her to engage in group play or casual street interactions. She has played well with active dogs that will ultimately let her be top dog. She loves to play when she finds her match but would likely require some soft intros.I've only seen how she reacts to kids on the street, and she's always been gentle, but she's never lived in a home with kids and for the sake of an easier transition would likely be better for a home with adults and/or older kids.Top line: Juniper's overall vibe is that she's an extremely charming, boisterous bully that loves to play hard and cuddle harder. She would do well with a big backyard and consistent, daily attention. She's never had any serious health issues, takes no medication, and has no dietary restrictions. She is neutered, but not microchipped (more than happy to have this done). Please reach out to liviblocker@gmail.com for more information.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Juniper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
