Pellets: 1/4 Cup Oxbow Essentials Adult Rabbit Food (AM) Hay: Unlimited mixed hay (All day) Salad: 1 cup spring mix, parsley, cilantro, romaine lettuce (PM) Meet Chester, a stray who found his way to us in February 2024, after wandering into Orange County in October 2023. Despite his initial shyness and nervousness, this adorable bunny has a heart full of potential. Chester prefers the safety of solitude, often keeping to himself in new environments. Loud noises and fast movements startle him, so he thrives in a quiet, patient household with plenty of hiding spots. Given time and understanding, Chester blossoms into a loyal companion, showing his appreciation through joyful binkies and affectionate moments. He finds comfort in chewing apple sticks, exploring tunnels, and snoozing in his beloved Cottontail Cottage. With patience and love, Chester's trust and gratitude will deepen, creating a bond as sweet as his favorite treats. Neutered: 11/7/2021 Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease caused by a calicivirus that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. It is not contagious to people or other animals. For the first time, the virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. UPDATE: In May 2021, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has confirmed new cases of RHDV in rabbits in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura County. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit.
