My story

Hi, I’m Kenley! I have been through a lot, and I'm looking for a really special family that can finally give me a safe place to land for the rest of my life. I’m a quiet little mama who was living a rough life outside. Some people were able to get me and my kittens, and they brought me to BTKR to get spayed. I was really shy at first but turned out to be a very sweet girl! I'm a very sensitive, shy girl, and in the right environment, I blossom! It's really important for my new family to understand that with new people and in new environments, I start off very scared and standoffish. I can even get swatty, though I'm nice enough not to use my claws. It's just my way of asking for space. Because I've stopped eating when I've transitioned to places like PetSmart or Cafe, I've come back to foster, where I am content but unfortunately also where I am much less visible to the public, which makes it soooo much harder to find my people (especially during kitten season! It's tough for us more mature ladies to compete!) Although adjusting to change is hard for me, I REALLY like indoor life and finally being safe and secure! I’m a quiet girl and I need a quiet, calm home, without younger kids. I'm not terribly fond of other cats, but I have gotten along with older female cats who are also calm. I get overwhelmed by really boisterous cats, especially ones who are more dominant I think I'd enjoy being an only kitty. I haven't been around dogs as far as I know. I like to have cozy spots to nap, LOTS of yummy food (I love Churu treats with a deep passion!), and of course, your love and affection. I haven’t really gotten much into playing yet, but I’ve shown some interest in toys I can bat around with my paws, so I hope we can try some different toys and maybe find ones I like! I didn’t really have a lot of time to play while I was outside raising babies and trying to survive. I have really connected with one of my helpers, and whenever she comes to pick me up from places where I'm not eating, I immediately nestle into her arms and purr deeply. So, she knows that I have the capacity to connect VERY deeply with my preferred human, someone who is willing to invest in me, be patient, and go slowly. Once I feel comfortable, I am so full of love and affection, I will make air biscuits and purr while being held, and let her give me forehead kisses and tell me how pretty I am. She keeps telling me to show everyone my sweet self so I can find my family, and I really do try, but I just get so scared! My helper says my just right family will understand. She says I am a gem, and the right family will be so lucky to adopt me! In addition to my snuggles and sweet purrs, she also loves my beautiful dark gold eyes, which she says are very unique! So that's my story; I'm waiting and hoping for that special person who will bring me home and never give up on me, who will give me time and space to be my true self and be rewarded with the discovery of an absolutely amazing kitty underneath the fear. I have a heart so full of love, and I want to share it with the just right human, for always. My helper will work closely with my adopter to develop an integration plan for me, so that my transition to my new home is successful. I hope you'll consider meeting me! Please see our rescue information for our adoption fees or email us at billythekiddenrescue@gmail.com. ‼️Help control the pet population - have your pets spayed or neutered! 💯

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kenley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
