Have you been on the hunt for a new best friend? Well your hunt has come to an end! Meet Hunter, a sweet, affectionate, and super wiggly boy who is bound to put a smile on your face. Hunter loves to romp around, take treats, and get pets all over. Does he sound like the boy for you? Head on over to meet him! Hunter came to ACCT as an Owner/Guardian Surrender on 3/21 after he was left with someone for a week and they could no longer keep. They noted that Hunter was Energetic playful, his favorite toys are stuffed animals, he is playful around strangers, children and dogs but barks at cats. Per Volunteer 4/18/24: Such a friendly and wiggly boy! He was super excited for leashing, jumping around so it took a few tries. He prances around when he's walking because he's so excited! He zig zags when he walks so needs some simple leash training. Super food motivated boy and takes the treats so gently! We went to a play yard and he got zoomies multiple times but is super gentle with them, it was very cute! We had a meet with adoptable Kobe and Hunter did amazingly! Hunter comes on a bit strong at first but he's very loose and patient with the other dog. Kobe barked a lot in his face and he didn't react at all, he was so chill. Took pets all over from me, such a good boy! On 4/12, PCR retest came back positive for Mycoplasma. On 4/5, PCR retest came back positive for Mycoplasma and Pneumovirus. On 4/4, Hunter was on doxycycline, but enrofloxacin was added last night due to concern for worsening URI signs. He was noted to be quiet, alert, and responsive, with frequent cheek puffing and hacking. There is concern for a complicated URI with progression to pneumonia. He has since finished his course of medication as of 4/16. Per Staff 4/3/24: Hunter was a bit shy and apprehensive when I first came up to the kennel. After a short while and a few treats, although still calm, he was enjoying the affection and giving kisses On 3/30, Hunter is on medication for URI. Notes of Multiple piles of loose stool found in kennel. Consider stress colitis, antibiotic dysbiosis vs other. On 3/24, Hunter came down with an upper respiratory infection and was started on medication. On 3/24, PCR test came back positive for Coronavirus and Mycoplasma. Per Staff 3/24/24: Hunter got out for some play time today! He stood at the kennel door with a mid level wagging tail, big soft eyes, and excited tapping toes. He was patient for leashing and hopped right out once secured. When we got to the room he starting wheezing and sneezing a bit, so I'm afraid he might be getting sick! I called in medical to get a test for him asap. While we waited for them to come, we played and bounced around for a bit. Hunter has opened up so much in the past few days! He's happy and bouncy and much more social than he was! He was more open to pets, and when I would stop petting him he'd come in closer for more. When the medical staff came in for his PCR he did so well! He allowed me to leash muzzle him and took the test like a champ! After his test I gave him another treat and returned him to kennel. He returned without issue! On 3/24 During initial intake exam, Hunter was noted to have waxy ears, and his eyes were pink. He had tartar along gumline. On 3/22 due to stress he was started on gabapentin. Per Staff 3/22/24: Hunter was sitting on his kennel bed and came right up to the from with wide eyes, sniffed the leash with mid level wags and let the leash slip on him without issue. Took a second to come out but did so on his own. Pulls Minimally On Leash. Was fearful of dogs jumping and barking in kennel. Neutral/ Allows all handling. Hunter explored the eval room with a loose body and mid level wags, excitedly sniffing around. He would wiggle towards both of the handlers, but when one touched his face he froze, lip licked, and lowered his tail. She stopped petting him and he gave some more wags, so she again gave a scratch and he froze again. She backed off and gave him some space and he explored some more and used the bathroom as well. He got excited after using the bathroom and hopped around. He approached the handler again later on and froze with head pets, but then scooted closer and put his head closer. He gets nervous with pets and needs a slow approach, consent petting is important for him, but he warms up a lot with time! He took treats super gently and sat for them. Engages in play. No interest in toys. Fearful of squeaky toys :( Video: Hunter knows sit: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zMtH2x7YkFs Hunter loves pets: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hbVW5qhzRzI Kobe Meets Hunter https://youtu.be/6fuIUBBxaaE?si=mCHJlti7Lad2zKi8 Hunter plays with toys pt.1: https://youtube.com/shorts/Voq-nJtKqMA?si=KNngsNdIEmmOxgBg Hunter plays with toys pt.2: https://youtube.com/shorts/gniCr8MmmwI?si=5lrLyzT6cutobSjf Clover Meets Hunter https://youtu.be/gTnmG6BrB9I?si=tDH8-Y_gmQNMWxI_ Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
