Background:Snickerdoodle's journey to our shelter began when she was found as a stray, tied up near the precinct. Despite her uncertain past, Snickerdoodle has shown herself to be a spirited and playful companion.Behavior Assessment:Snickerdoodle's assessment on March 20, 2024, revealed a dog with mild to moderate strength and pulling while on a leash. She showed no reactivity to humans or other dogs but displayed some distraction while loose in the room. Snickerdoodle readily approached when called over but showed minimal interest in toys. She tolerated both soft and exuberant handling but exhibited signs of stress during contact, including stress yawning and shaking off afterwards.Interactions:During playtime in the yard on April 23, 2024, Snickerdoodle demonstrated her playful nature by engaging with toys and playing fetch with a handler. Despite displaying tension when a neighboring dog approached the gate, she easily redirected her attention with a tennis ball. Snickerdoodle also allowed the handler to pet her head, chin, and back, showing her affectionate side.Energy Level and Recommendations:As a young and social dog, Snickerdoodle thrives on daily mental and physical activity. To keep her engaged and exercised, we recommend activities such as long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in addition to regular exercise.Behavior Determination:Snickerdoodle has been assessed as a Level 3 dog. She may exhibit challenges related to leash-biting, a behavior observed during intake. Positive reinforcement and force-free training are advised to address this behavior.Potential Challenges:Snickerdoodle's leash-biting behavior may present a challenge during walks. Redirecting her attention with a toy and utilizing positive reinforcement techniques will be essential in addressing this behavior.Despite her challenges, Snickerdoodle is a loving and playful companion who is eager to find her forever home. With patience, understanding, and proper training, she will undoubtedly become a cherished member of her new family. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a loyal and spirited furry friend, Snickerdoodle could be the perfect match for you!A volunteer writes: Doodle-dogs are so popular, and our Ms Snickerdoodle is no exception! This chunkalicious nugget of a dog has been with us for a few weeks, charming both staff and volunteers during her stay. Snickerdoodle appreciates a slow approach when meeting new people, but once she knows that you are a true friend, she is all in for some snuggle time. Dressed for Spring in a colorful bandana, Snickerdoodle is completely adorable in whatever fashion is presented for her photo shoot, but she is a natural beauty as well, wearing a shiny brown coat with perfectly placed white accents. She is eager to learn and will be a great addition to a loving family without small kiddos (at least until she settles in) where she can feel safe and enjoy the comforts of home. Primary Color: Black Weight: 58.6 Age: 4yrs 2mths 0wks
