Psy needs a HERO!!! This SWEET boy has been looking for a FOREVER home since September of 2022!!!!! (909 days) Psy was originally surrendered in 2022 when the landlord said he wasn’t allowed due to his breed. He was then adopted & returned again, at no fault of his own, when the adopters had a baby. Psy is now 4 years old and DESPERATELY wants a forever family that will commit to him for life! He recently went on a short foster vacation and he was PERFECT!! The fosters took him to parks, the beach, on car rides, and long walks and he was the best boy. He will sit by the door to let you know he needs to go potty & is crate trained! He can also be trusted to roam free in a gated off room when no one is home. Psy is AMAZING on the leash and rarely pulls! He enjoys being with his people and loves giving kisses. His foster family described him as calm, affectionate, cuddly, curious, quiet, playful, & obedient. If given the opportunity, he will grab things off of the counter & get in the trash (what dog wouldn’t?) Because he has been passed around to a few families, he can be nervous meeting new people but warms up quick if given lots of cookies! Because of this, he would do best with no small children in his new home. Psy does well with dogs that are smaller than him and loves to play! If you are interested in giving Psy the loving home that he deserves, please visit him at Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center 341 south Birdneck road Open daily 12-5pm! His adoption fee is $1 and he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, & heartworm negative! Psy comes with a starter bag of food, a bed, & some other supplies his loving foster family gave to him❤️ Field Trip 10/23: "I have walked Psy many times and he has always been easy, but today I took him on our first field trip (around a lot of people and dogs) and I was SO IMPRESSED! I have had over one hundred Field Trips with dozens of dogs (not bragging, but I have a lot to compare to) and Psy was one of the easiest dogs I have ever taken out. He jumped in the car and sat patiently for the entire ride. When we parked next to the boardwalk, he got out calmly and without getting overly excited. He was very attentive and walked right beside me with zero pulling. He is listed as needing to be an only dog, which may be correct, but he is not dog reactive. We passed several dogs, including a little yappy dog that snuck up right behind us, and he did not react to any of them. We walked past people on bikes, rollerblades, wheelchairs, and skateboards and he barely noticed. The only things that got a reaction from him were a squirrel (which he treed lol) and the seagulls on the beach. When we were leaving the beach, he backed out of his collar (my fault for not checking, not his, he was just loving the sand and did not want to leave). He walked about ten feet ahead of me and past a few people before he realized he was loose. I called for him, and he just turned around and came right back. The people around were impressed with me for having such good recall, but I told them I had nothing to do with it, he is just that easy. Field Trip Update: "I spent the afternoon with this handsome pup...Psy was perfect on the leash, did not pull once, and if you are looking for a good dog to walk alone with or go outside at night, he is very alert to his surroundings and makes you feel safe if you’re alone. Psy LOVES chicken nuggets & french fries and was very slobbery while he waited for his treats! He was AWESOME in the car and either had his head out the window or was playing with his toy on our drives. Our last stop was tractor supply where he got to pick out his own special treat & toy to take back to the shelter to enjoy. " Come on out to meet him! He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask. VBACAC 341 S Birdneck Road, VB Open daily 12-5 pm.
