Romy Age: 4 years Gender: Female Breed: Pit mix Weight: 57 lbs Crate trained: yes Potty trained: yes Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Kid friendly: unknown, but likely yes Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: medium Meet Romy! She’s small and delicate for a pittie, and loves to cross her paws like a lady. Romy is so tender hearted. A cute little girlie with sad eyes and Dorito ears. She would love to find her forever. A dog that doesn’t like peanut butter? That’s Romy! But she makes up for it with cream cheese, cottage cheese, string cheese, chews, meatballs, tennis balls, stuffed animals, blankies, yoga & classical music. She finds joy in our resident cat. And she gives great hugs. Romy is very polite and well mannered. She has a solid sit - she’s great with a sit/stand “push up”. I think she would love going to training class or enrichment or agility courses. She’s very bright! She is athletic and energetic - but chills easily and loves to hang out on the sofa and watch The Office. She’s a light jumper - so that could use some work. Good leash walker. She does get excited by seeing things from afar or through a window. But is easily diverted by Easy Cheese (the girl loves dairy). So I would continue to work on positive associations with that. She has not been scared by loud city noises. At first, she was not a fan of the crate - but I’ve learned that some pre crate enrichment makes a big difference. She usually barks or whines for a few minutes when she goes in - and then is silent until I let her out. She’s quiet all night and while I’m away at work (based on checking my camera). Romy has ‘RIZZ! She is all love. She’s a smart quick learner. For her breed, she is small and delicate. Energetic—but easy to be around. She needs a family that will help her to continue to have positive associations with unknowns. That they will always be there for her. I think she would do well with a family that wants a dog to take on adventures and to classes and to snuggle at home. A family that gives her the tools to exercise her mind, too. She will do well with sibling dogs and cats with proper introduction. But I think she’s adaptable to both kinds of environments - with another pet(s) or alone.
