My story

Meet Chauncey — eight years young, dressed in a handsome orange and white coat, and carrying a quiet hope in his heart. Chauncey is the kind of cat who takes a moment to watch the world before stepping into it. He’s smart, observant, and endlessly curious about his surroundings. New spaces fascinate him. A cozy window perch or a sunny corner quickly becomes his little kingdom to explore. At first, he can be a bit bashful. When things feel overwhelming, he may retreat to a safe hiding spot to gather his courage. But here’s the beautiful part — give him patience, gentle reassurance, and a little time, and you’ll see him blossom. The shy boy becomes the affectionate companion who leans into pets, follows you with soft eyes, and quietly chooses you as his person. Chauncey is wonderful with both cats and dogs, making him a lovely addition to a calm, welcoming home. He enjoys his wet food and treats (a sure way to win his heart), and sharing those small daily rituals will quickly become your special bonding time. He does have a little eye drainage that needs occasional gentle cleaning, but it doesn’t slow him down or cause him discomfort. He simply needs someone willing to offer that small act of care — a simple kindness in exchange for a lifetime of devotion. Older cats like Chauncey are treasures. They’re past the chaos of kittenhood and ready to settle into real companionship. He isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for consistency, safety, and someone who won’t give up on him when he’s feeling shy. He has waited so long for a forever home. Now he just needs someone to say, “You’re safe.
