My current foster writes:Play. Play? PLAY! These are the only three words in this plucky pup's vocabulary! The only thing that Coney loves more than playing with his toys is enjoying them with you! Tennis balls, stuffies, chews, and tug ropes are among his favorites. Once he is tuckered out after a few minutes of stimulating play, he will roll on his back with his toy (or toys) still in his mouth, asking for belly rubs. If you are looking for an all around "good boy" who is eager to learn and please, showers his person with unconditional love and affection, and whose energy knows no bounds, Coney may be just the pup for you. Coney is an especially gentle dog and is happy to share his toys, so a family with kids would definitely be able to enjoy Coney, and he would enjoy them! He is also a social butterfly when it comes to meeting other dogs, and he would be delighted to join a family where he could have a four-legged brother or sister to play with. Coney has a bit of difficulty adjusting to noisy environments at first and will sound an alarm bark if he hears something suspicious. With time and support, he becomes desensitized to noises and no longer barks, but he would definitely do best in a calm and quiet environment with minimal ambient noise---such as a house on a quieter street or a very large apartment with little foot traffic in the hallways. Going for walks on city streets can also be a bit overwhelming for Coney at first, and he may begin searching for and eating things he shouldn't to help ease his anxiety. Clicker training has proved highly effective in relieving Coney of his anxiety and bad snacking habits on walks. But having a backyard, park, or wooded area nearby really brings Coney out of his shell! In these spaces, he doesn't have to worry so much about what's around him and can just focus on being a dog---and a great dog at that!My previous foster writes: Coney loves to cuddle and wiggles in excitement when it's time to play. He works full time as the Director of Petting, and is likely to remind you if you have been neglecting your duties. He will bump your hand with his head to remind you he needs pets, or lean on your legs while wiggling. If you are sitting he will put his head in your lap, or his paw on your leg to remind you of your petting duties. He has not yet gotten the hang of dropping his toys, so when playing "fetch" he will bring as many toys as he can fit into his mouth. He loves treats, and is eager to learn. He will need your help with slow introductions to new environments, and will pay you back by showering you with love and cuddles.
