My story

Pepperoni isn’t your typical snuggly lap cat—he’s independent, particular, and full of personality. After living in a home for 10 years, he was sadly surrendered due to a child’s severe allergies. Now he’s looking for a second chance with someone who understands and respects his quirks. This handsome 12.5-pound boy is a mellow, food-motivated cat who enjoys sunny naps, window perches, and doing life on his terms. He prefers to initiate affection—he’ll ask for pets when he’s feeling it, but if you move too fast or don’t respect his body language, he won’t hesitate to hiss or swat. He does not like being picked up or held. In his previous home, Pepperoni was described as “sassy” and a bit of a space guarder. He was also used to some indoor/outdoor time, so he might thrive with safe outdoor access like a catio, or a cozy perch by the window to watch the world go by. During his time at the shelter, we’ve seen glimpses of his social side emerge more often—but always on a case-by-case basis. He tolerates other calm cats but doesn’t seek them out. This guy would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with a cat-savvy person who isn’t looking for a cuddly companion, but instead appreciates the charm of a cat who just wants to be understood.
