Meet Hart, who is sure to have your 'hart' within minutes! Though he is an older boy, Hart exudes a youthful energy and loves to prance around and enjoy life! Hart was found as a stray and is now waiting at the shelter for his forever. According to medical staff, he will need further vetting for tumors and some suspected neurological symptoms. Despite these issues, Hart is a super sweet and playful man who is looking for a kind human to take him in! He's available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. Video: Hart loves pets: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/u4RWl55bjds?feature=share Hart knows paw: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/u0BHQCwfxXU?feature=share Sheeba and Hart fence meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/NqpbW2Hra7E?si=_0ZFp0kWpO39rGf6 Behavior: Per Volunteer 4/24/24: Hart was asleep in his kennel when I went to walk him but got up immediately when I said his name. He was easy to leash and pretty energetic for a senior guy! He jumped up on me a few times to get hugs. He knows sit AND paw! He did paw soooo gently, it was very cute. He takes treats very gently too- he may be slightly hard of sight as sometimes he misjudged where my hand was for the treat. He loves prancing around! Such a happy boy. He lovessss pets all over. Super affectionate guy. His kennel card says he leash bites but it was very minimal. There was one minute when he got super jumpy on me and was biting the leash. I gave him my other leash to bite but he was focused on the one on him. One I threw a few treats and guided him in one direction, he totally stopped and we didn't have any other issues. Seems to just get playful and overstimulated but a very good boy overall!! Per Staff 4/17/24: Hart was sleeping in kennel when I approached. I called to him and he began to bark at the walls and stayed on his bed looking very confused. He then realized I was at the front of the kennel and trotted over to the front. Allowed for easy leashing and exited without issue. On the way back to kennel he leash bit the whole time. I was able to clip the leash while he was distracted and once in the kennel he stopped and I was able to remove the leash Leash skillsLeash BitesLeash bites!!! Bring two leashes and treats In the room Hart was very stressed. He was walking in circles a lot, panting, drooling, and hopping around the room. When he would come over to interact with me though he was very sweet and would lean against me for pets. He would full on tumble into you and then flop his whole body over for pets and attention. he was very sweet with handling and very affectionate. he also showed knowledge of sit and paw and took treats gently, but did appear disoriented at times and would also lose his balance or seem confused. As time went on he began to leash bite fairly bad. Anytime I touched the leash he would immediately leap in the air for it and surprisingly was very coordinated and athletic in those moments. He does try to grab it near your hands so be careful of your hand placement and bring a second leash! ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
