If you’re a history buff, you know that Lou Conter was the last survivor of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. And while our Lou is named after an American naval hero, he actually needs a hero of his own! Is it you??Lou originally came to the shelter as a stray in April of 2024 along with a pal. He was adopted and spent nearly a year in a home, but is back at the shelter once again and in need of a new home. In his adoptive home Lou was reportedly good with other dogs, livestock, and even cats! He reportedly enjoyed hiking with his humans and was described as an affectionate couch potato who loves toys. In other shorter-term homes Lou did well with kids and small and large dogs and was housebroken and crate trained. He was described as smart, affectionate and playful: “Lou is very friendly with people he doesn`t know and loves kids. He loves to play in the dirt and talks when he wants to be outside.”Lou needs training and structure in his future home and will thrive with a committed family. He’s a people- friendly, happy dog who has been easy to handle while in the shelter. Here’s what one volunteer said:“Lou Conter hadn’t been out yet for his walk. He is a beautiful black and cream Siberian Husky Mix and has the most beautiful blue eyes! He is a sweet dog. He was easy to leash up and walked nicely out of his kennel. He was not reactive to any people or dogs that we came across on our leisurely walk. He enjoyed sniffing and investigating all the scents and he really enjoyed himself. He also likes- no LOVES- his treats! I found Lou to be a great dog!”Lou has lots of typical Husky qualities, so breed experience is always a plus! He needs a secure yard and someone who understands what an intelligent and curious dog like Lou needs to thrive. Lou shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. If you can be Lou’s hero, ask to meet him today!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt LOU CONTER, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
