BANSHEE ACCT-A-162618 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Banshee must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by MONDAY, MAY 20th at 10:00 a.m. Should Banshee's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Banshee is a beautiful adult female lab mix, around 8 years old. She came in with her best pal Misha (ACCT-A-162619) when their elderly owners were no longer physically able to care for them. Unfortunately, Banshee has medical needs that are beyond the scope of our care, so she urgently needs to leave the shelter with an adopter or rescue partner able to provide her with necessary procedures and treatments. During her first exam with us, Banshee was noted to have several large mammary masses. We are unable to determine the nature of the masses without removal and biopsy; due to the location and size of the masses we are unable to perform her procedure at ACCT and she will need to go to a full-service veterinary hospital for mass removal and biopsy. Other than the mammary masses, Banshee appeared to be in good health. She's in excellent body condition, and her clear eyes, shiny coat and joyful sweet nature are a reminder that age is just a number! After a short time in the shelter, Banshee unfortunately came down with an upper respiratory infection that is serious enough that she will need recovery time from her illness before being eligible for the mass removal and spay surgery. Banshee is a sweet, gentle giant (she is around 90 lbs). She does pull a bit on the leash (she's got a lot of places to go and people to meet!) so she would do well with a harness, but overall she is a well-mannered companion. A staff member notes that she always greets a new friend with soft eyes and wagging tail, and that she takes treats gently. She enjoys petting and allows all-over handling, leaning in for more pets and love. Banshee's previous owners note that she was good with strangers and most other dogs, but should not go to a home with cats. While Banshee has had good dog meets with new pup friends, her best times at the shelter have been hanging with Misha (a 4 year old mixed breed male, also an adorable gentle giant who loves belly rubs and giving kisses!). Misha is a bit anxious in the shelter environment and definitely feels more confident and comfortable with his big sis around-they would love to go home together! If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ . All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia; as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Banshee, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
