My story

Please say hello to Phelps, his perfect eyebrows and his irresistible grin. This young Australian Kelpie mix is everything you’d want in an adventure buddy: sweet, smart, playful and just the right size to take anywhere. He's the kind of dog who makes every day brighter, and he's ready to give his whole goofy, loving heart to the right family. Phelps is looking for someone who loves to be active as much as he does — a best friend to throw tennis balls, go on walks or hikes, let him splash in a kiddie pool and then share plenty of cuddle time after the fun. He’s a respectful, playful boy who gets along swimmingly with other dogs, shares his toys and takes his cues when a buddy needs a break. When no one’s around, he’s just as happy to entertain himself with his favorite toys, a nylabone or a frozen stuffed Kong. Because he’s young and full of life, Phelps will thrive in a home that gives him both mental and physical outlets. This bright boy would be thrilled to learn advanced training tricks — he loves to use his brain as much as his legs. After a good play session or a walk, Phelps is a well-mannered love bug who’ll eventually climb into your lap for snuggles. Phelps is ready to trade his kennel for a couch, a backyard, and — most importantly — a family to love. Could you be the one to finally give this sweet boy his forever home? A team member says, "Phelps is a very affectionate and playful guy. He loves to play fetch, and he's very good about returning the ball or toy to you. He likes to get in some pets and hear you say 'good boy' when he brings the ball back. Eventually, he'll flop down next to you with his toy and chew on it while you pet him. He's just a handsome lovebug." Another team member says, "Phelps loves nothing more than being near you and tennis balls, not necessarily in that order. On hot days, he loves taking his toys into a wading pool and playing his own game of 'Snorkel for the Balls.' It really is adorable."
