My story

Sugar is of course as sweet as her name. She was originally found as a stray, but her rescuers were unable to keep her or locate an owner. Although Sugar is not completely house broken, they were working on it. She is partially crate trained as well, so apparently she can stay crated for short amounts of time if needed. Sugar is definitely old enough and smart enough to figure things out with gentle training. She was a regular at doggy day care while being fostered and did well with calm dogs her size. Of course, a meet and greet with current pets is always recommended. Sugar is totally a people pleaser, friendly, cuddly, shy, nervous, and affectionate. She walks well on leash, rides nicely in the car and greets visitors politely. Sugar was adopted and left here carrying a nice 48 pounds. Apparently she loves her groceries since she has been returned and is currently at 76 pounds! Sugar is also on a diet! She rarely barks and is very low energy. Here`s her one flaw we are aware of. She cannot be left unsupervised without tearing up whatever she can get her chops on. Crate training and/or supervision will be a must for this mischievous girl. We think she would do well around calm children, but she also seems a bit nervous of new people. This may sound like an overload of info but we want Sugar to find the perfect home. We also want her adopted family to be happy with her! Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment or just stop in. We are open 11 to 4 Tuesday through Saturday. Sugar is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sugar, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
