My story

Hi everyone!! I’m Pickles. They say I might have some Cairn Terrier in me, but not sure what else. I’m very unique looking. Kind of look like a big dog and a small dog. Big, long body but short legs, and weigh around 35lbs. I love to wiggle my butt and can do zoomies like a big dog. Toys are super fun. Both bones and fluffies. I carry them around with me. I’m mostly house trained, but have had a couple accidents inside. I absolutely love my foster mom. I follow her everywhere, and want to be near her all the time. I’ll sit on her lap and give lots of kisses when I can. I do cry a little when separated from mom, but I’m learning to settle myself and wait for her to come back to me. She says this is training and that I’m doing really good. I also walk well on a leash and enjoy going out. Before I came here, I was attacked by a bigger dog and was quite injured. My wounds are all healed, but I can be a little reactive to some dogs. I played really well with a puppy that was my size. Maybe because he was young and playful. We had a great time. I’m also good with mom’s dog, and she’s bigger. But I get a little jealous and tend to resource guard mom. We are working on that. Overall, mom says I need slow dog introductions to see if good fit. I am really good with the cats. I mean, I chase the playful kitten, but I tend to ignore the adult cats. They don’t want to play. Do you think I would be a good fit in your home? I would love to meet you and show you my wiggly butt. Are you interested in adopting Pickles or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to help@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524, or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application for Pickles. Thanks for thinking adoption!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pickles, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
