My story

Elowen is a sweet girl who would love to find a home away from the shelter! Here’s what one short-term foster had to say:“I fostered Elowen for four days. She rode well in the car (I lifted her in) and within a few hours at my house, she came out of her shell and ran and played in the backyard. During her stay, she was introduced to the crate and eventually went in easily with some treats thrown inside. She was able to relax and sleep in the crate. She learned come, sit, and lay down fairly quickly. I even did a bit of agility training with her, and she did some jumps and went happily through a tunnel. She was very affectionate with me and loved to cuddle on the sofa and be petted. She was slightly timid with my husband, who is a large man with a beard, so may need a bit of extra time to warm up to some people.”Another foster said the following:“Elowen is a very sweet dog. She is mellow in the house and while she likes to be around me, is not a Velcro dog. She spends most of her time snoring on the couch while I work in my office. She loves being in the yard chasing lizards and looking at birds. She is trainable but she needs someone consistent in her life first, who she can start to trust and look to for leadership.”Here`s what Elowen’s friends at the shelter have said:“Elowen got to be Dog of the Day last week- she did great and was gentle and friendly (albeit a little shy) with everyone she met. She’s a good car passenger, knows sit, knows down, and can even do some agility.”“Elowen is always eager to get out and will perform a sit before exiting. She can be timid with new people, but she is very treat motivated and loves to be petted.”Elowen is also a day trip favorite: “We had a chill day snuggling and taking naps. Elowen was a bit nervous, but a sweet and loving, mellow, couch potato. Elowen needs more exposure to the world. We attempted to go to Petsmart to get a special treat, but once at the door she changed her mind and did not want to go in. For the rest of the day we elected to go home and hang out in a calmer environment. She did very well, spending most of her time curled up on the couch napping and receiving pets. She could use a patient household willing to help her learn about the world. She has so much love to give.”“Elowen is great in the car. She could use some help with loose-leash walking because she tends to pull sometimes. She loves to be petted and she`ll snug
