Baker Man ACCT-A-165389 is a 1-year-old male who came in as a stray on 5/27. The finder noted that Baker Man was friendly. Behavior Notes: On 6/4 staff noted: Baker Man was very very nervous and fearful today. He did not want to come out of kennel and pulled hard to try and run away from the handler during his dog meet. Before he even came outside he pancaked and refused to come out of the door to outside. He then tried to escape through a crack between the fence and shipping container. Handler was able to keep him contained and we were able to get him to return to kennel easily. Baker Man has not shown this fearful behavior before and it is very surprising. On 5/29 staff noted: What a sweetheart! Baker did attempt to push out once when coming out of kennel but after that sat waiting. He walked pretty well on leash to the play yard and used the bathroom as bit. Baker man is very social and allows all handling. He'll sit nearby you loose with an open panting mouth, very relaxed with pets. He did not display arousal as he did a couple days ago with another handler, but did seem to be a bit anxious. From seeing another dog he began to whine and approach the fence with mid level wags. He then began pawing at the paly yard door a bit, so we brought him out of the play yard to go inside. He wanted to walk a bit, so we ended up going around the building. He greeted a dog in the welcome center through the fence and was loose with mid level wags, very gentle and the dog was on the smaller side as well. I think he might do well with a dog companion! He did well going back to kennel, I just tossed a treat in. On 5/28 staff noted: In kennel Baker Man stood very still with soft eyes and a wagging tail. Once he saw the leash he started darting in front of the door and attempting to push his body out, whining and pawing at the leash. Pulls moderately on leash. Baker Man knows sit and is very tolerate. He continued wagging his tail while the handler touched his legs, head and body. He showed continued interest in the handler, keeping eye contact and trotting behind her. Baker Man did not show much interest in treats but took some very gently. He is a very sweet and lanky boy, was very loose and open to greeter new handlers when someone entered the room. Engages in play. Baker Man has a short attention span and get distract easily. He loved running around the room and preferred stuffed toys. No guarding, allows you to also take toys from him. On 5/27 staff noted: Baker Man had some time in the eval room for activity time today. When I approached his kennel Baker Man was very excited to see a leash and began to push his nose on the kennel door. He was very easy to leash and pulled minimally but once he saw the door, he tried to rush outside. Once I corralled him into the eval room, he turned around giving me soft eye contact with his tail wagging. Baker Man began playing with the tennis ball, pushing it around the room. Once the handler started throwing the ball, he lost focus and started jumping on her. He was pushed off multiple times but seemed aroused. I was able to distract his attention by grabbing some treats and throwing it across the room. Baker Man's attention span is very short and needs to be constantly moving. Once he saw me attempting to put notes in, he immediately started jumping on the table, grabbing everything in his mouth, whining and panting. I tried to distract him further but the attempts failed and the handler had to return him back to kennel. Medical Notes: On 5/30: Baker Man was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. A PCR test was done and Baker Man tested negative for everything. On 5/27 during an intake exam staff noted: Baker Man was quiet, alert, responsive and in good general health.
