My story

Approximate Age: 7 years old Approximate Weight: 56lbs Meet Francis! He’s the dog who lives up to his nickname: "Fancy Pants Francis." This 7ish-year-old boy is known for his overall chill demeanor, but don't be surprised if you catch him doing tornado spins while joyfully tossing his toys in the air because even a refined man such as himself needs to have some fun from time to time. Francis is very friendly with other dogs (and cats!) but, for the most part, walks past them with his nose in the air, because they should be so honored to be in his presence! Francis is currently in search of a nice and quiet home where he can feel comfortable. He is the perfect combination of independence and affection, often finding his way onto your lap for a few minutes of snuggles. It's important to be aware that Francis exhibits protective tendencies. He has bitten people when they have entered his space, so it’s best for him to be crated when guests visit. Outside the home, he is friendly with strangers. Francis thinks he's a canine traffic cop. Cars and bikes that whiz by are a potential menace to his neighborhood. A stern 'Leave it, Francis!' usually brings him back to reality (and his doggy bed). Requirements And Donations - Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS). - Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. - Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies. - Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.
