My name is Kefir! I am an adult male pittie mix who was originally found on the streets of Northeast Philly on 6/11. My finder said I was very friendly and playful! I was quickly adopted in June, but unfortunately came back to the shelter as a stray again on 11/7. I am looking for a fur-ever family who can give me plenty of cuddles and playtime. I get along really well with other pups, so I might be a good fit for a home with canine siblings who love to play as much as I do. Staff here at the shelter are still getting to know me, but you are welcome to come meet me any day from 10am to 6pm at ACCT Philly! Check out my notesbelow. Behavioral: 11/08/2024 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Kefir was in the front with a wagging tail and soft eyes. He jumped up on the door when he saw the handler and did not get down, but was still easy to leash. Once secured he came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: Kefir was a happy, playful boy as soon as he came into the room. He jumped up on the handler with soft eyes and allowed some all over pets before zooming around the room in circles. He parkoured off the handler multiple times, using his body like a bowling ball as he ran around the room. It was a bit overwhelming but he did not escalate. When the handler tried to handle his paws and legs he head whipped and gave a gentle correction, but did not escalate. When I attempted further handling he allowed all handling except for his legs. He did head whip with an open mouth, but did not escalate or actually correct me this time. Kefir sat for treats and knew "paw as well. Overall, he's a high energy boy who does not like he legs and paws handled. PLAY: Engages in play. Very jumpy and lies to slam into you. Would not recommend for young kids or the elderly. Can redirect with throwing toys. TOYS: Loves toys, will trade for a treat or a new toy. Staff noted on 6/11: "Dog appears very social and friendly; loose body during the whole interaction, allowed most forms of handling, as well as dog was soliciting attention from both the callers and both APOs." Staff noted on 6/11: "Dog was found running at large but is very sweet and trusting. He allowed callers to confine [him]."
