My story

You may have been expecting a black dog, but our Onyx is gray- surprise! Onyx lived in one home for seven months before coming to PACC. He was housebroken and crate trained, and we learned that he will likely do best in a home without young kiddos. That’s ok- kids just aren’t everyone’s cup of tea! Onyx also spent several weeks in a foster home- here’s what his foster said about him:“Onyx is a lovable cuddle bug. He will sleep with you or on the couch. He loves toys but chews them up so sturdy toys are recommended. He will play by himself and keep himself entertained. He loves attention and looking into his eyes I see love, loyalty, and a great dog. Onyx is house trained with regular breaks and with time to settle in. He was pretty good with my older dogs; high energy but when asked to leave them alone he did. He was a bit reactive out on walks with dogs in yards, but I told him no and he listened well. He has prey drive for rabbits, so probably would do best in a home without cats. On walks Onyx pulls a bit to start, but then relaxes and walks well. He is crate trained and will go right in. We asked him to go in his crate when we fed our dogs; he did as told and laid and waited perfectly. He knows sit and paw and he comes when called. He knows the word “no” when told. Onyx is very loyal to his people. He wants to please and be loved. He is very food motivated. A goofy meatball!”In another home Onyx was reportedly crate trained and was described as an affectionate boy who loves car rides, toys, and being close to his people. Here’s what staff, volunteers and community members have said:“I took out Onyx today. He quickly relaxes away from the kennel and walks nicely with just a slight pull. Onyx knows how to sit and he gives great handshakes! He is very affectionate when you get down on his level, and very gentle.”“Onyx is a little bundle of joy. We had him for a 2-night pawjama party. Rides well in the car, with a leash restraint he lies down quietly. House broken when taken out on a schedule. He listens very well and is eager to participate in treat training. He is very food motivated yet he stayed on his bed while we ate our meals. He was quiet and slept all night on his dog bed on the floor. He had a bath and loves sleeping on a sunny porch. Super friendly, loveable guy.”“Onyx is the perfect sweet pup! He`s friendly, playful, very lovey and goofy! He`s easy to leash up in his kenne
