We know Dodge Durangos are known for being sturdy and fast, but our girl Durango here is the exact opposite! She's a delicate dainty lady who likes to take life nice and slow. She enjoys a leisurely walking pace where she can sniff all the smells, and is perfectly content hanging out on a bench with her human just getting some pets. Durango is looking for her co-pilot! She is available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. She has had good dog meets at the shelter and would love to meet you resident doggo ahead of time. You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm or interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org. I mostly sat with her on the bench outside and she had her head in my lap and let me pet her and tell her how much I love her. She also let me wipe away her eye boogers with my hand. She is darling and I love her! I wish I could adopt her right now if I had the space in my home. 6/30/24 A rescue volunteer was walking Durango back inside when she stopped and wouldn't continue to walk. Noted that Durango had been super sweet but just didn't want to return to the kennel. An ACA came up and squatted down and began to pet her, and then picked her up and carried her back to her kennel. She allowed being carried without issue Per staff 6/23/24: Had to help out a volunteer getting Durango back in the building and into kennel. She began refusing to walk in the staff parking lot, and the volunteer had tried to loop her belly but she just stood refusing to move. I had a dog out while doing volunteer training, and Durango perked up a bit and wanted to say hi to the other dog. The volunteer unlooped her belly and Durango walked, following Opal's lead for around 10 feet, then stood still again not moving. I looped her belly and had to go all the way inside with her, she was attempting to pancake and spreading her legs out in front of her to gain more resistance. Due to it being so hot, and the concrete being extremely hot, it was more of a desperate need to get her inside. Once inside she put the brakes on even more and her paws were digging onto the floor. I eventually had to pick her up to return. Bumped her up to blue Per Volunteer 6/19/24: Very sweet girl, hesitant of the leash but allowed leashing easily with no issues. Very skinny girl who loves his treats! Even though she's skinny she took them super gently. She is very curious while walking and liked sniffing everything. At first didn't solicit much attention from me then after a few minutes got cuddly and stood right next to me. Took pets all over. Very low energy girl who just wants to chill with you! Per Staff 6/18/24: Durango was sitting near the door and avoided eye contact when the handler came to her kennel door. She stayed still for leashing, gave some whale eyes but allowed leashing easily. Durango came into the eval room very nervous, tail tucked and lowered body. She immediately pushed her head into the handlers arm and rested her head on the handlers lap. She came up to the other handler and rested her head on her lap as well. She was still with handling but allowed head rubs and allowed the handler to check her teeth, ears and body. Durango is a very nervous but curious girl and went around checking out and sniffing things around the room. She always returned to the handler for comfort and stayed still for head rubs and kisses. Per Staff 6/18/24: Durango did well for his dog meets today. He was nervous and hesitant, but did do some wags. He would do best with slow intros to other dogs.
