Meet Rocky Roll, or as we call him, the Rock, or Rocky baby. He is the absolute sweetest dog you will ever meet. Fully housetrained and crate trained and he even does tricks! Ask him to sit, shake, speak, heal, stay or hop like a bunny (no I'm not kidding). Yes he's got a little extra to love, but don't we all? And since being in foster with 3 walks a day he's already been working on that waistline! It's very obvious Rocky came from a loving home prior to his shelter experience and he's great with kiddos. He won't even try to eat your food or your kids toys! He loves getting his butt scratched! He does seem to react to passing dogs, unsure yet if he wants to play with them or have words...he's spent his life prior with another dog, so it may be the former, but he would definitely need to meet any possible doggie siblings in advance of a possible adoption. If you are looking to add a poised gentleman with a sweet personality to your family, look no further than Mr. Rocky Roll! Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Rocky Roll at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering. He’s house trained and trying to stay that way while he’s back at the shelter this week. He was easy to leash, a dream to walk - stayed right by my side, and relived himself as soon as we got outside! I took him to the yard to stretch his legs and we ran around a little and played with some toys. Rocky takes treats easily, knows sit, and is a total gentleman! I adore this big goofy boy! 02/19/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Rocky Roll is being housed in a crate currently due to space. He was sitting near the door of his c rate with soft eyes and seated wags. He was patient for leashing and came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING : Rocky Roll was so sweet and social with us in the eval room. He ignored the dogs barking in crates, and stayed focused on his handlers. He showed us all the tricks he knows, like “sit, “shake”, “down”, and “speak”! He was excited about treats, but was careful not to accidentally get fingers when he took treats. He showed no interest in toys but did engage in play with the handler. Rocky allowed all handling and leaned in lots of booty scratches. Overall, he’s a super friendly, smart guy! PLAY: Engages in play TOYS: No interest Per staff 7/15/24: Rocky roll is so sweet! He was patient for leashing and came right out. He walks SO well on leash and just wags along. Once we got outside, he immediately used the bathroom multiple times. In the yard, he explored a bit but then came up to all three handlers soliciting attention from us. He was extremely affectionate with all of us, leaning in for pets staying loose with mid level wags. It was really hot out, so we didn't stay out very long. He did exhibit some frustration with other dogs, was barking through the fence at a dog passing by, and on leash did some slight fixation and barking. He was still very manageable on leash, and wasn't difficult to redirect. He went back into his kennel without issue. Per Volunteer 7/14/24: A big chunky potato! SUPER easy to leash and walk, no pulling at all. We enjoyed a nice leisurely pace. He seems housetrained and waited until we got outside to go potty. Outside he showed me that he knows sit and takes treats super gently! Another volunteer brought his sister Bella out and brought them into the same play run. They are super chill together, although Bella is the slightly more energetic of the two! Rocky likes treats much more than Bella. They both took pets all over and were very gentle on leash. Super sweet old buddies!! Per Volunteer 6/23/24: They are currently kenneled together, but don't seem bonded. Both are low key in their kennel and outside. They were easy to leash and remove from their kennel, and walked thru the aisle with no issue. In the yard they just walked around taking in all the scents. Both are well-mannered and housetrained. Rocky Roll waded in the pool and Bellarosa watched. (As a precaution, we removed all the toys from the yard.) It was a very hot day, so we weren't outside long. Both are housetrained and enjoy pets and treats - both are overweight, Rocky more than Bellarosa. No issue returning them to their kennel. Per Staff 6/22/24: Was quite reactive and barky during dog meet. May have been frustration so will try another meet when we can. Per Staff 6/21/24: Bellarosa and Rocky Roll came to the door when I got to their kennel with lots of wags and soft eyes. I was able to easily separate them with the divider. When I came around to Rocky Roll's side he came upt ot he door and hopped up curiously to sniff me and the leash. He got down quickly and waited patiently for leashing. He came right out once secured. Rocky Roll was loose and friendly from the start! He came in and immediately leaned against my legs, backing his butt into me for butt scratches. Rocky Roll LOVES butt scratches, and will back his booty into you whenever he wants some! He allowed all handling right away, and had no sensitivities! AT one point I was typing and he came up behind me and just leaned into my legs, waiting for me to give him more attention; he's an attention hog! Rocky Roll took treats gently and showed me that he knows "sit", "paw", and "down"! Overall he's a happy, friendly senior boy that just wants butt scratches and attention! Ran with me and pressed his body into me so hard when he caught me! Gave lots of kisses and was very goofy! ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
