My story

August is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 4/15/23. This delightfully charming feline is a friendly, social, and pretty confident young cat who also happens to be really good-natured and easy-to-please. An affectionate and endearing young cuddle-bug, August will be looking for opportunities to give and receive loving-attention, and he enjoys some cuddling in the arms of those he knows and trusts. More looking to operate in his comfort zone than having reservations and not shy in-the-least, August is a confident, playful, active, and undemanding guy who is just darn happy to be in the company of people and other cats and kittens he knows. With animated expression and completely engaging personality; this swashbuckling, adventurer will appreciate daily opportunities for ruff-n-tumble playtime as well as independent exploration avid hunting of household shadows, toy mice, and dust bunnies will, no doubt, be a lifelong favorite activity. He's been known to gather all kinds of treasures on his adventures too - leave no scrunchie or caps unattended; or he is sure to claim them for himself! August was surrendered to Monroe SPCA as a house fire survivor - fortunately he was evacuated from the home before any injuries happened. He's been treated for fleas, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm while in our care. A healthy, happy, and extremely friendly feline, August is looking for a forever family who’s willing to give him the time and attention a young cat needs to continue to grow into a social and confident cat - daily exercise and mental stimulation is a must with this guy! August is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. August currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt August, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
