My story

Ayla is a sable and white, 2-year old female, Akita, and maybe Norwegian Elkhound Mix. She weighs 51-pounds and her Shelter Animal ID is A347152.   This girl is darling! She does this happy little dance then sits close by your side to show you she is ready for her walk! She has this marvelous independent side; she can do her own thing or sit quietly by your side. She’s gentle when asking for your attention and affection, she will put her head in your lap, nudge your hand and look at you with her big soft brown eyes! This girl may not fetch or play with toys but she’s smart, energetic and knows some of her commands like the back of her paws! She’s very treat motivated, a little stubborn, but teaching her new things will be a whole lot of fun and once she knows a command she knows it!  In doggie playgroup, she can get overstimulated by dogs with too much energy, that run around and get into her face. Ayla has a very soft personality and gets overwhelmed in doggie playgroups. She has this personal space bubble around her that she prefers dogs to stay clear of and she will let them know it. She has met with a gentle, neutered male dog and after a very slow introduction she was willing to mingle with him. Ayla would need a new home where she is the only dog or may do well with sharing a home with a small, gentle, easy-going, confident, male dog. Ayla has this sweet soft side but can also be aloof and independent, so we are not recommending young children at this time. We would love to see this magnificent, smart, inquisitive, energetic, silly, and yes... stubborn beauty in a home that will appreciate and love her unique and wonderful personality! For more information and to meet Ayla, please contact: City of Stockton Animal Services 1575 South Lincoln Street Stockton, CA 95206 209-659-7132 or 209-929-9180 sasrescue@stocktoncagov Shelter Hours Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 5pm (This listing is to help assist direct placements of rescues that are currently with other rescue groups, shelters or their current owners. TARA has no affiliation with the placement of these dogs, nor do we have any knowledge of or guarantee their temperament, training, socialization or health condition. By using this listing, the adopting party releases TARA from any and all liability arising out of or in any way connected with the adoption of the pet listed)
