Plume is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Plume: Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: She has done best with free roam when home alone for up to 6 hours, after taking a short time to settle initially. She will need to keep working on this as she transitions to her new home. Leash walking: She can be somewhat alert on leash, and will pull towards other dogs and bark when the other dog is also reactive. When other dogs are calm, she is also calm, and she has had successful interactions on leash with the right chemistry. She is an engaged learner and would benefit from continued practice with positive reinforcement techniques. Dog social: Plume is dog social and has made many dog friends in her foster home. She matches the energy of the other dog, so she does best with easygoing, playful dogs like her. Intense, reactive, or highly driven dogs cause her stress. Cat social: Unknown, but she has shown a moderate prey drive toward small critters on walks. Kid friendly: Plume is very gentle and social and has met kids happily in a controlled environment. With a proper introduction to the home and time to settle in safely, she has the potential to be a good family dog. Plume likes: - Being outside! She is a very "husky-esque" gal who loves the great outdoors, whether it's going on walks in the neighborhood, hikes in the woods, or just hanging out in the yard. - Doggie play time! Plume loves her daily playtime with her dog friends and seems to be much calmer in the home when she gets her zoomies out with her buddies! - Asking for belly rubs! Plume loves human affection and will roll right over for a rub when she first meets you. She is affectionate and seeks out pets and attention from her humans. - Meeting new people! Plume is excellent with new people and enjoys meeting them. She has never met a stranger...because she believes everyone is her friend! - Learning new things! Plume learns quickly and loves mental engagement like training and puzzle toys. She's a smartypants! Looking for that final feather in your cap - a wonderful dog to join your family? Let Plume be your gal! Plume is a gorgeous 2 year old husky/shepherd mix who arrived at OTAT from our partners in Texas. She has been in foster for several months receiving treatment for heartworm disease, from which she has made a full recovery. In that time in foster, she has proven herself a wonderful companion! Plume is very "husky" in her demeanor - she adores the outdoors, and she thrives with lots of exercise and human attention. She is intelligent and engaged with the world around her - her foster mom reports that Plume's favorite thing to do after a day of fun is watch the sights and sounds of the neighborhood from her yard. Plume is highly social - she loves meeting new people and receiving affection and attention. She has made several regular doggy friends that she enjoys daily play with, though she doesn't enjoy intense or driven dogs. She likes the low-key goofballs! Plume is still working on passing barking dogs on leash, though she has made great strides with training and is very easy to handle when she has a safe distance from dogs that stress her out. Plume is an active dog both mentally and physically who will thrive in a home that wants an adventure buddy to get out and explore the world with. While she is not a great fit for homes that need a couch potato or a dog that will be content alone for many hours every day, she will be the perfect match for someone who wants a constant companion for fun, friends, and adventure. Don't let this feather blow away - Plume is a catch! Plume's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and she is ready to get all the belly rubs in her forever home!
