My story

Come meet Gia! Gia first came to Palm Beach Purrs last spring as an 8 week old kitten. She was found completely paralyzed in her back end. She was quickly assessed by both our medical director Dr. Liberman and the neurologist Dr. Senneca. Initially her prognosis was poor. She was given very little odds at recovery. Her biggest hurdle being her inability to urinate on her own. She was able to scoot around and drag her back end with ease but not stand. We decided to give her every opportunity to defy her poor odd and SHE HAS! Gia is now 9 months old and has made a remarkable recovery. She can now stand and walk on her own. She runs in fact! Her coordination improves daily but is still a work in progress. She has just started to be able to jump a little, a very little, but none the less she can! She also has started to urinate on her own which is amazing! She will need continued patience and guidance with this. She needs a large shallow litter box in able to urinate and dedicate properly in. We have seen daily progress with her and we do think that will only continue. It’s been a spiritual journey to watch this little fierce kitten defy odds. She’s extremely friendly with other animals. She LOVES other animals in fact and we often refer to her as Aunty Gia because she has always shared her space with many Palm beach purrs foster babies as well as the other critters her foster mom comes across. She lives with dogs, guinea pigs and even a tortoise which she adores each and every one. She can be shy at first meeting new people but comes out of her shell and is a complete clown! We have never had so many laughs with any of our fosters as we have had with Gia. Gia is a very amicable cat and does well in many environments. She’s well traveled and has already taken road trips and vacations and done amazing. She rides in the car daily. She would do well in a home with other pets or without as long as she had her own humans to entertain. Older kids would suit her better. She would do best in a single floor home, stairs have not been introduced and although she continues to prove us wrong, we are not sure she will ever be a candidate for them. She will come with some special instructions but they are fairly easy to follow through with and she has a foster mom 10000% committed to helping her new family adjust. She’s an incredible cat that deserves a family to call her own. Gia has now watched about a dozen and a half or so foster siblings come and go and each time we are sad for her because we so want her to have that opportunity too. We really can’t say enough about how remarkable and precious she is. She’s will find her way deep into any heart. Please consider a meet and greet with Gia!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
