My story

Dairy Queen is a sweet, smart, and ultra-chill companion ready to find the perfect place to call home. This adorable girl originally came to Melissa’s Second Chances as a stray and has since proven herself to be the very best snuggle buddy around. Just as her name suggests, her whole vibe is chill. A hurricane could be raging outside, and Dairy Queen would rather be snoozing on the couch next to her favorite person. Dairy Queen is house-trained, an excellent leash walker, and has perfect manners when left loose in the house — she’s never destructive and is happiest curled up waiting for her people to come home. She’s crate-trained too but prefers not to be left completely alone in her kennel, as she can get a bit anxious and bark to let you know she’s ready for her next adventure (or more cuddles!). She’s wonderfully social and bonds deeply with her humans — she’s affectionate, responsive to commands, highly trainable, and loves to lay nicely in the car for rides. Dairy Queen is great with kids and has been wonderful with respectful, dog-savvy children. When it comes to other dogs, Dairy Queen can be dog selective. She does well with calm, respectful dogs (like seniors or submissive pups) but can struggle with more dominant or intense dogs, especially in high-arousal situations. For this reason, she’d thrive best as the only dog or with a very mellow canine sibling who matches her vibe. As for cats — we think it’s safest to say no cats for Dairy Queen. She has a high prey drive and has shown strong interest in chasing small animals, so a cat-free home will be the best fit. Dairy Queen isn’t much into toys — she’d much rather be curled up next to her person, soaking up pets and giving gentle affection. With her calm personality, perfect cuddle manners, and her love for people, she’s ready to be someone’s loyal, snuggly best friend for life. If you’re looking for a devoted, laid-back companion who will bond to you with her whole heart, Dairy Queen might just be your perfect match. Come meet this special girl and see if your couch (and your heart) have room for her! 💙 ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Once approved, we’ll work with you to ensure it’s a great fit—and if it’s not, no worries! We’ll help you find the right match. All of our dogs are adoption-ready and come: •️ Spayed or neutered •️ Heartworm tested •️ Dewormed •️ Up-to-date on prevention medications •️ Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines •️ Microchipped •️ With a coupon for a free Simply Dub collar from Dubdog Designs

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dairy Queen, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
