Gidget is a compact girl who definitely knows her own mind and isn't afraid to have strong opinions. * Leash Pro & Crate Champion: Walks? Gidget struts her stuff beautifully on a leash! And she’s crate trained and actually enjoys settling down for a good snooze – especially if it involves snuggling deep into her comfy dog bed. * Cuddle Connoisseur: Gidget absolutely lives for affection and is quite a sweet girl. Prepare for some quality snuggle time! * Sociable, But Sometimes Bossy: While she generally gets along with other dogs (and has done well around little dogs at events!), her "strong opinions" can sometimes make her a bit forward in her play style. Other dogs might not always appreciate her approach, so understanding dog dynamics is helpful. * Resource Guarding: Gidget really cherishes her treasures (like food, toys, or her favorite spot) and can get worried about losing them. This is called resource guarding. Gidget needs patient, dog-savvy people who understand how to manage this behavior positively. Because of resource guarding, a home without young children is essential. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, Saturdays 11am-3pm and Sundays 11am-1pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs and families, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 3 days. Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.
