My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sadie loves to ride in the car and go for walks and does very well on a leash. She waits patiently for her collar and leash to be attached and lets you pass through the doorway first without pushing. She likes being outside sniffing the ground and keeping her eyes on the perimeter for squirrels, birds and wildlife. She is prey driven and will need to be redirected, especially when chipmunks and squirrels are encountered. Sadie is very playful and a really sweet girl. She has the silkiest fur that is very soft and she enjoys being petted and loves to stretch out and be massaged over her face, legs, back and tummy. She will take a nap on her dog lounge and is content to chew on a Benebone, play with a toy or just stand and look out the front window. She likes to keep watch up and down the road to see any activity and will bark when a dog, bicycle rider or dog walkers are out and about. She will entertain herself with her assorted toys inside but is happy to run or trot around the backyard exploring the perimeter looking for wildlife and doesn’t need any balls or Frisbees thrown for her. Sadie is very neat and tidy and never has any accidents in the house. She can go through the night and waits until she is taken outside in the morning to pee and poop. She sleeps quietly in the bedroom, on the couch or on her dog lounge. She prefers a cooler place and enjoys a fan blowing on her. Sadie eats her breakfast and dinner, but loves eating snacks. She pays little attention to the noise of the garbage bag shaken out to fit into the bin and any other unusually loud noises, including the vacuum. Sadie prefers to have free range of the house rather than being crated but she does walk into her open door crate to check it out. She has been known to be restless when left alone for longer periods and will rip apart Kleenex tissue boxes if she’s bored. Sadie enjoys dog treat puzzles and will continue searching until she has found and eaten all the prizes. Sadie likes to sit and wait quietly while she gets used to meeting new people. She will gently take treats that are offered. Sadie likes to be in your company and communicates a great deal by sitting right in front of you and pushing her head against you for attention and looking right at you when she needs something—potty break, food, play time etc. She will greet you with a hug or put her front paws in your lap if you are sitting. Sadie sounds like a wonderful dog and she is but she needs a special owner that will continue her training as she is a reactive dog who with time, patience and guidance can be a wonderful companion. Please visit our website for more info on our adoption process and application www.barkdogfarm.org  Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees.  They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash.  You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.  Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called.  A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place.  If all are in agreement and the animal has received its NH health certificate an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid.  Adoption fees for dogs are $500. for adults over 12 months, $600 for puppies 12 months and younger.  Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate.  Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only. This is usually done meet outdoors so please dress accordingly. Please email barkingdogfrm@gmail.com with any questions or to arrange a meet and greet.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 20, 2025, 11:51 am
