My story

Meet Salem, a 6-year-old German Shepherd mix who came to Big Dog Ranch after being surrendered by her previous owner along with two canine companions. While her friends have since been adopted, Salem is still waiting patiently for her turn to be welcomed into a loving home. This sweet girl has a calm, low-energy temperament, making her an ideal match for someone seeking a more relaxed, easygoing companion. Whether it’s lounging at your feet, going for a gentle stroll, or curling up for a quiet evening in, Salem is happiest just being near her people. She’s housetrained, knows basic commands, and has shown that she’s great with other dogs, so she could easily join a home with existing canine companions. Salem also loves toys and will light up with joy when given something soft to snuggle or chew on. Most of all, she loves cuddling—she may be a little reserved at first, but once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate. Salem would do very well with a first-time dog owner looking for a steady and gentle friend. She’s low-maintenance and full of love, and she’s ready for a family that will give her the care, security, and kindness she deserves.
