My story

Popcorn (but knows the name Hiro) is an adult Border Collie mix with a heart as big as his brain! This handsome boy started life as a stray in Alabama and has overcome some challenges since— including successfully completing heartworm treatment. Now, he’s ready to find his forever home!Popcorn is crate trained, potty trained, and knows the commands: sit, stay, and come. He’s making good progress with leash walking and walking at heel. He thrives with structure and activity. True to his Border Collie nature, Popcorn is incredibly smart and eager to learn—perfect for someone who enjoys training and wants to live an active life with their dog. He does well with children in small doses but can get overstimulated around loud, playful kids. Because of this, he’d do best in a home without young children. He’s also reactive to large vehicles, especially school buses, so he’ll need a home that can help manage his environment, and work with him on his fear of trucks and buses.Popcorn is searching for an active owner with a fenced yard and a love for herding breeds. If you have experience with working dogs or just a passion for their energy and intelligence, Popcorn could be the perfect match for you!If it sounds like Popcorn could be the forever pup for you, please fill out a no-obligation application so you can meet him and find out!Adoption fee is $360Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements: Be at least 21 years of age2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household3) Have approval from the residence owner4) Have valid ID with current address5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards.***
