** $50 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Ice Spice ACCT-A-178653 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Ice Spice must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH at 10AM. Should Ice Spice's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Ice Spice - a girl who is all love and smiles! This beautiful lady was found in a Family Dollar store, but we think she has a heart worth a million bucks. Ice Spice is a people-loving pup who thrives on attention and affection, and she's always ready for a cuddle (personal space is not her thing!). Whether she's sitting in your lap, snuggling up beside you, or just offering you her big, sweet smile, she'll make sure you feel special. If you're looking for a dog who will shower you with love and be your best friend through thick and thin, Ice Spice just might be the perfect match! She had a bad meet with another dog while at the shelter, so she may prefer to be your one and only pup so she can get all the love and attention to herself. Due to her length of stay, Ice Spice is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. BEHAVIOR: Per Volunteer 11/10/24 Briefly has her out today- very easy for leashing today and walks well! Very interested in other dogs, barks as they walk by but very loose and seems more excited but we didn't do a meet. Let me put a bandana on her and took pets all over. Per staff 11/9: Ice Spice was brought out for a dog meet. Through the fence, she was snapping at the other dog so we proceeded to a walk-along and did not move forward to a face-to-face meet. Ice Spice was pulling strongly on leash and was dripping thick saliva, but then her tongue quickly went blue. I alerted her handler who adjusted the slip lead and she settled down, not pulling towards the other dog as much. Per staff 11/8: Will jump up to say hi. Overall sweet girl. Per volunteer 11/7: Ice spice was very loose and wiggly when I approach the kennel. Had her paws up on the door then when I got the leash out she got down and patiently waited for leashing. Nice on leash just some minimal pulling. She's super cuddly and has no concept of personal space. She got right in my arms for pets when I kneeled down. Was very overly excited when another dog passed and was barking with wagging tail. Not overly great motivated, but she is sick right now. Take streets very gently! Playful girl in the play yard and no issues returning to kennel. Per staff 11/7: Super sweet, loves cuddles and exploring. Per staff 10/24: Super shy, but so sweet. 10/21 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Ice Spice was in kennel shut down and was just laying down with her head lowered and began shivering when she saw the handler. She did some tail wags for the leash and allowed the handler to put the leash over her head. Once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally - fearful on leash HANDLING: In the yard, Ice Spice went up to the handler with her head inside the handler lap. She allowed all handling but was very nervous and did some huffs and shivering with her tail tucked. When the handler that brought her in the yard left she began whining and pawing at the gate until he came back and once he did she warmed up and did some low wags. She is particular about certain people and is handler oriented at times. She would approach you with a lowered body but wouldn't solicit and would walk away. PLAY No interest TOYS: No interest Per volunteer 10/21: Very sweet, doesn't like to walk much, really prefers to just sit down and do nothing. A real couch potato, very little energy. Per staff 10/21: Ice Spice was in her kennel when I passed by and began baring teeth and shivering. Per staff 10/19: Easy to handle and very sweet. MEDICAL: On 11/7, Ice Spice continued to display signs of an upper respiratory infection. She was prescribed azithromycin and tobramycin. On 10/22, Ice Spice was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. She was positive for coronavirus, and upon being retested on 10/31, was positive for herpesvirus and mycoplasma. During an exam on 10/21, Ice Spice was nervous with her tail tucked, but was sweet and tolerated her exam well. The small area of hairloss near her jaw appeared to be a scar from an old injury. She was very scared - shaking and shivering on walks and in kennel, so was prescribed Trazodone. During her intake exam on 10/19, Ice Spice's eyes, nose, and ears were clear, her teeth had mild staining, and she had a clean coat with an old wound on her jaw. She appeared to have had puppies at some point in the past. She was bright, alert, and responsive, friendly, and not food motivated.
