** $50 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Dozer ACCT-A-178695 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Dozer must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Thursday, November 14th by 10:00 am. Should Dozer's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Looking for a pup who will bulldoze his way into your heart? Meet Dozer! This 5-year-old bundle of energy is ready to find a home where he can enjoy endless playtime and love. Dozer arrived at the shelter on October 19th after being found tied to a fence. The compassionate animal control officer who transported him noted that Dozer is an incredibly friendly and silly guy. Upon his arrival, Dozer was a bit stressed and paced a lot during his behavioral exam, but he allowed all handling with no issues. After some time to decompress, his true playful personality has started to shine through. A volunteer recently took him out for some activity time and discovered that Dozer's favorite toy is-hands down-tennis balls! He even has a special talent: he can carry three at once! Dozer loves to keep his toys close, and was even seen taking some back to his kennel to stash them under his blanket. Dozer is looking for an adult-only home or one with children 12 and older. At the shelter, Dozer has had good meets with another dog. During his meet, he remained polite and sweet even when the other dog started getting zoomies! He would thrive in a loving environment where he can continue to decompress and show off his playful side. If you're looking for a fun, energetic companion with a heart full of love, Dozer could be the perfect match! On 10/19, Dozer was given an intake exam and noted to be 50 lbs, have severe staining on his teeth, and in overall good condition. He was said to be friendly to staff during his exam. On 10/28 Dozer was diagnosed with a doggy cold and given a PCR test in which Dozer came back positive for pneumovirus. He was then placed into ISO for treatment. On 11/5 Dozer was retested and came back negative for pneumovirus! NOTES: 10/12: Timestamped Dozer has a passion for toys and tennis ball; rumor has it, he's been seen with 3 tennis balls in his mouth at one time. I took Dozer outside to meet this tennis-ball champ. He's a little strong on the leash, but he's also trying for to stay housetrained, so I figure he's pulling to find his spot. In the yard, he went directly to a rope toy. He had no interest in anything but the rope toy until he saw a tennis ball, and added that to his mouth stash. He proudly strutted back and forth in front of me, but never dropped them, not even for cheese. He only wanted to leave with them, not play in the yard. He eventually stopped strutting to put his head in my lap for some pets and butt scratches. Knowing he wasn't going to give them up, we started our walk, and fortunately he had to regrip the toys in his mouth, so when he dropped them I was able to pull him away. (Yes, I felt guilty, but I know he has toys stashed in his kennel.) So we walked up the street, he showed me he knows sit and is gentle taking the treats. Then we sat on a bench where he enjoyed some pets and snuggles. He's a well-mannered boy, not prone to jumping or mouthing, seems house-trained, is a mature dog estimated at 5 yrs old, weighs 50 lbs, good shelter dog meets, knows sit, and obviously loves his toys. If you're looking for a companion with a love of toys, a silly grin, and a big heart, Dozer could be the perfect match! On 10/25 per volunteer: This guy is HILARIOUS! Dozer is obsessed with balls and did endless laps around the big run to collect every ball he could. Dozer wanted to keep every ball he found, at one point he was carrying three in his mouth at once! He proudly jumped up on the bench to show me his prizes, then kept going to the fence and pawing at the gate. Dozer is a toy hoarder! He brought two balls back to his kennel and buried them under his blanket. On 10/21 per staff: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Dozer was standing on the bed with wide dilated eyes. The handler lowered the divider and he came to the front and was a little nervous of the leash with wide eyes and tried to push out while the handler quickly leashed him. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls strongly HANDLING: In the yard, Dozer was neutral and a bit stressed. He walked around pacing and stress panting. He was calm when another handler entered the yard but did not solicit any attention. He allowed all handling and was neutral for everything. He seems housetrained and showed no interest in play or toys. PLAY No interest TOYS: No interest COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Blue On 10/21 per staff: When I tried leashing Dozer, he was very avoidant and began some wide whale eyes. I approached his kennel with some food as he was laying on his bed. He came up slowly to sniff me and I tossed some treats in. He took the treats, so I went in with some more treats and he ate them from my hand. He gave me some wide eyes and got stiff, so I closed the kennel door and gave him some more treats through the bars. when I tried leashing again, he ran to the back side and would flinch whenever I would lasso him, and the leash touched him slightly. After continuing this a couple times, I decided to try at another date. On 10/20 per staff: Super friendly and silly, all allows all over handling VIDEOS: Dozer and Stella Bella: https://youtube.com/shorts/nsKcnholDxY?feature=share ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
