Blanca

My story

A volunteer writes:Blanca is a pretty tuxedo who seems to have grown roots at the back of her cubby. She is a super shy gal who took refuge in a remote part of her kennel to avoid the "unknown" that has invaded her life. Blanca was part of a large group of working cats "watching over" a warehouse. She was even born there...The business closed down and the kitties arrived little by little to the Manhattan Care Center where they were all adopted or rescued. Blanca was the last one to be brought in as she tried very hard at staying in her birth place. Her previous owners describe her as a very timid feline with strangers but a very friendly and playful one with her housemates.  She would be a quiet and easy going cat, occasionally playing with her human family. Blanca does not hiss or swat when approached. She just shrinks in place. She hears my soft words and accepts my caresses but I know she will need time and patience before she finds her balance and place in a new normal. Blanca is not an outdoor cat but one who has not known the usual life of a housepet. She is a good and sweet little gal who needs to be given a chance at a new lifestyle in the hands of an experienced new owner.Blanca was in the den and not looking out, when the front door was raised, she was sitting alert with fairly large pupils, but allowed to be approached, didn't sniff treats, allowed petting without reacting, except for a few lip licks. She allowed petting along her back as well and she's a sweet cat who needs some time.Blanca interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
