My story

Name: Jolene Nicknames: Joe. JoJo. Breed: Bully mix Sex: Female Age ~2.5 years Weight: Perfect medium pup (~40 lbs.) Before OMD: Brought into the city shelter as a stray, and OMD took her into rescue when her owner never came looking for her. Adopted into a loving home in the summer of 2023, but Jolene (fka Pretzel) has recently made it clear that she is no longer comfortable with the other female dog in the home. The safest thing is to find Jolene a home where she can be the only pup. Reminds us of: …She's got a little toad face, walks like a salamander, and sounds like a little piggy when she's sniffing around. Key descriptors: Nervous. Intelligent. Playful. Silly. Sensitive. Snuggly. Energy level: Medium Life Goal: To run as fast as she can with a big ol' goofy smile as often as she can Affection level: Extra cuddly & affectionate when her person is on the couch or in bed, but she also likes her alone time & is perfectly happy to lounge on her own. Stranger Danger Level: High. Jo is suspicious of, and an overall nervous nelly with, new people. She simply needs a bit to warm up and likes to observe from a distance at first, and then take some treats. She overall warms up faster to women than men. What we love most: How she roots around and buries herself under the covers. How she wakes you up in the morning by knocking on the door politely. How quickly she learns. How much she loves the yard; it's her favorite spot to play! What she loves most: Romping around outside. Tug toys & large balls. She appreciates a good game of soccer, basketball, or tug of war. What she doesn’t love: She seriously questions lamp shades & blinds. She will side eye them until she gets use to them. What she knows: Sit. Down. Stay. Okay (her release). Come. Place. Crate. Potty. No. Turn Around (for changing direction on walks). Drop it (working on). Leave it (working on). Working on: Confidence. Mouthiness when over-excited. Dogs: Needs to be the only pup in the home. While she initially lived with other dogs in foster, she has since had incidents with the other female dog in her adoptive home and we feel it is safest to place her as an only-dog. Cats: No thanks. Kids: 10+ please. The chaos of young kids make her extra nervous. House-trained: Yep! She will ask to go outside by sitting by the door or pestering you if you are off schedule. Crate-trained: Yes, loves it. Wanna see more? Check out her Insta: @adoptablejolene Jolene's adoption fee is sponsored, therefore it is waived. Jolene is spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jolene, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
