My story

Meet Rocco! Our chicken loving, cozy bed finding, little man looking for a family to give him lots of loving. Rocco is three, adores being close to his people, and never says no to the opportunity to curl up next to you on the couch or on a dog bed at your feet. Rocco does extremely well with cats. He has also met other small dogs in care with us with proper introductions and has happily shared the building with them. We joke that he is our “front door security” and is sure to let us know anytime Amazon is there to drop off a package. This little guy gets around beautifully. He has IVDD, or intervertebral disc disease, which means that he relies on his front two legs for mobility. He can stand on his back legs and takes a few steps, but primarily runs around “in his pants” - aka a drag bag, or zooms in his wheelchair. He does not need help going to the bathroom, and wears a belly band and diaper. At night, he prefers to go commando to keep his skin nice and healthy and sleeps in an ex-pen with a washable bottom that’s easy to toss in the wash. He would be a great “first disabled dog” for a family open to adopting their first special needs pup. Our team will happily provide lots of education and ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition home. Rocco is a total companion animal, and with his personality would do best with someone who is often around the home when not at work. He’s a snuggly guy! He also does great in the car, knows what a puppuccino is and is happy to join you for adventures. Apply to make him a part of your family today!
