My story

Our sweet Penny girl is still searching for her forever person. Originally adopted from us as a puppy, Penny has found her way back to us after several years and is now ready for a fresh start with a loving family. Penny is about 4.5 years old, around 30 lbs, and has so much potential. She’s a special girl who will need an equally special home. Due to a lack of early socialization, Penny is nervous and skittish around new people and will need time to build trust. However, with patience and understanding, she can blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Penny has had some training and knows several basic commands, but we strongly recommend that her future family continues her training to help her gain confidence and thrive in her new environment. She has shown that she prefers to be the only dog in the home and would do best in a quiet, adult-only household with minimal visitors. To ensure her safety, Penny will need a privacy fence or to be leash-walked, as we’ve been told she can climb fences! Penny has made amazing progress with her foster mom, and we believe the perfect family is out there for her. We know she has specific needs, but we are true believers that every dog has a match—it just sometimes takes a little longer to find them. Could you or someone you know be Penny’s forever person?
