My story

Hello, big wide world!  My name is Raccoon (some folks call me Paulo), and here is a little bit of info about me: Breed: HuskyAge: 1 year, 10 monthsGender: MaleWeight: 48 lbs / 22 kgsHeight: TBDCountry of origin: Middle East Highlights: Sweet-natured, playful, loyal, shows promise for obedience training, gentle with children, and a friend to both dogs and cats! When I was just a tiny pup, I was abandoned on a busy road in the dark of night. Traffic zoomed past me in all directions, and I didn’t know where to go or what to do. I was frozen in fear, bracing for the worst—until, suddenly, everything changed. I felt gentle hands scoop me up and heard a kind voice whisper comfort into the chaos. A human had spotted me and stopped everything to bring me to safety. That moment saved my life.I’ve been living in a boarding home ever since, growing up surrounded by love. I’ve shared my days with other dogs, some curious cats, and lots of humans—big and small. (Babies fascinate me!  It's been said that I've shown a protective nature around young kids).  To show my rescuer my eternal gratitude, I've greeted them with gentle kisses and nudges every morning!   As generous and kind-hearted as my rescuers have been, they want more for me—and so do I. The boarding house has been a safe and loving place, but with lots of animals coming and going, it can get a bit hectic. I’ve heard them talk about a place called Canada, with its nature trails, snowy days, and sparkling lakes just waiting to be splashed in. It sounds like a dream!  Eh?! I’d love a yard where I can stretch my legs and play—but if we’re out and about together often enough, I’ll do just fine without one. I'm young and full of energy, though I've calmed down quite a bit from my younger months.  With the right guidance, patience, and love, I know I’ll thrive and grow into something really special. My name, Raccoon, was given to me because of my distinct facial markings—just one look at my cute face and you'll see why! But if you choose me as your loyal companion, I’ll happily answer to whatever name you feel suits me best. I’m flexible like that—what matters most is being by your side. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: No formal training.  Please be prepared to train me. Leash skills: No formal leash training. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: Health notes:I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##1809478##
