Hi! My name is Farrah and I am from Iowa. From the foster: Farrah is the cutest dog with a sassy attitude! You just want to pick her up and cuddle and kiss her....but that isn't where Farrah is at all! She loves her head scratched. She doesn't like to be held but is happy to sit next to me and have me occasionally pet her. My favorite part is when I talk to her she tilts her head back and forth as if she understands everything I say. She is mostly potty trained... I believe the accidents have been when she was sick and couldn't help it. She is currently on a bland diet to work on her stomach issues. She does have some resource guarding issues when it comes to giving treats. Farrah loves consistency! She will bark at all new guests especially men. She continues to bark for quite some time before settling down. She has no interest in others even petting her. She is warming up finally to others in my household as she will go up and sniff them but does typically walk away before they can pet her. Farrah is a very timid/shy girl. She doesn't need a lot of exercise due to her knee issues. She is ok on a leash but doesn't like to walk a lot and unsure if that is pain so I don't push her. She prefers dogs that stay out of her space and are more at the low energy level. If they get in her space she will quickly tell them she is the queen! She sleeps on the couch just fine without making a peep. She has no interest in being in a crate and has not been destructive at all when left at home while I am gone. From the Vet: I have bilateral MPL (luxating patellas) that will require two knee surgeries, completed at different times to allow one side to heal. I need a foster or adopter who is willing to help me heal after surgery with activity restriction, rehab and recheck exams. Additionally, I am currently being treated for a scratch on my eye so my future foster/adopter would need to apply medication and get me to weekly appointments until this is healed It was determined that I do not need stenotic nare (short nose) correction as my quality of life is good right now but this should be monitored by a primary veterinarian in the future. At home dental hygiene is also recommended and it is likely I could require a dental in the future.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Farrah D18696, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
