Jessie (brown) and Junie (black/merle) are two strongly bonded female Pomeranians who came into the rescue as strays. They weigh 12 lbs each, are spayed, and are in good health. Jessie is around 8 years, and Junie, a little younger. Their behaviour towards each other suggests that perhaps Junie was a pup of Jessie, but we can't be sure. These sweet girls were frightened when they arrived, but have blossomed while in foster care. They are now engaging dogs who are affectionate with their foster mom and friendly to visitors. They enjoy being petted and Jessie craves attention and is very playful with her foster mom. Junie is still shy but gaining confidence. They startle easily, but recover quickly now. When left alone, they are content to be in their gated safe space together. They have been left alone for up to 4 hours a day. Nights are spent sleeping in their open crate and in the morning they jump on the bed. Jessie and Junie are a bonded pair, and anxious when not together. Junie is particularly dependent and cries when separated from Jessie. For toileting they use pee pads but do have an occasional accident. They are learning to enjoy the outdoors, and have made great progress in housetraining and outdoor toileting, with ongoing support. While Jessie is passive when being picked up and will withdraw, allowing a full vet examination, June is more anxious and we muzzle at the vet as a precaution. For nails and grooming, we use a professional who comes to the home. Both dogs have allowed examination of their teeth without difficulty. A securely fenced yard is a must, as they are not leash trained and are a flight risk. Despite ongoing challenges, Jessie and Junie are very dear dogs. They are curious, friendly, smart, and desire human affection. They are quiet in the house and content to observe goings on from their safe place, ignoring the other dog that lives with them. With an adult home and experienced handler that focuses on gently building their confidence, these two beauties can and WILL blossom and thrive. June 30, 2025, 8:53 am
