My story

Meet Shadow, a 9-year-old gentleman who lives up to his name by faithfully following his person everywhere they go. Once known as Queries, he’s now affectionately called Shadow because he’s never far from your side. With a calm, observant nature and a heart full of love, Shadow is like a canine Gandalf the Gray—wise beyond his years, but still full of surprises (and the occasional zoomies!).Though he may seem stoic at first, Shadow quickly reveals his sweet and silly side once he feels safe. He’s mostly quiet, but when he sees the leash come out, he’ll give you a joyful “awhooo!” to let you know he’s ready for the next adventure. Shadow loves his walks and has already enjoyed a few two-mile strolls. He’s currently working on his leash manners—he gets excited when he sees other dogs and wants to say hello—but he’s a gentle soul with a friendly heart.At home, Shadow has excellent manners. He’s fully potty trained and doesn’t need a crate, spending his days lounging on the couch with his senior and younger foster dog siblings. When his foster mom comes home, he greets her with happy tippy taps and then follows her around the house, ready to “help” with whatever needs doing—just one of the many reasons he earned his name.Shadow is dog-friendly, has done great with his current foster siblings, and while he hasn’t spent time with children, his gentle demeanor suggests he’d likely enjoy their company. He’s unsure about cats—he’s seen one once and wasn’t quite sure what to make of it—but he’s open to learning. He may not have mastered “sit” due to some hip stiffness, but he takes treats gently and more than makes up for it with his calm, devoted presence.If you’re looking for a loyal companion to be your partner in crime, cuddle buddy, and walking buddy all in one, Shadow is ready to follow you—wherever life takes you.
