My story

Meet Abigail, a playful and affectionate 45 lb. pup with a heart full of love! Abigail is the kind of dog who thrives on attention and will eagerly soak up pets and affection. If you stop, she might even jump up gently to ask for more—she’s just that sweet! Her love for toys is endless—whether it’s chasing, fetching, or carrying them around like prized possessions, she’s always up for fun. And when playtime is over, she’s perfectly content to share or step away, ready for the next adventure. Abigail is easy-going around food, happy to share or take a step back when needed. She enjoys the company of people but prefers to be the only dog in the home so she can soak up all the love and attention. If you have other dogs, we highly recommend a meet-and-greet to ensure everyone gets along. She’s done well on walks, though she can be a little reactive with other dogs or unfamiliar people—nothing too hostile, just some barking and excitement that she’s working on. With some training and positive reinforcement, she’s well on her way to becoming even more relaxed in those situations. Abigail is an energetic girl who loves her walks and adventures. She’s also easy to walk on the leash, making her a joy to spend time with. Abigail is ready to find her perfect match—someone who can give her the attention, training, and love she deserves. What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the “shelter information” box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
