My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Emmitt – Your New Best Friend with the Big Ole Smile! Looking for a happy-go-lucky pup who’s all about love, adventure, and cuddles? Emmitt is your guy! This medium-to-active sweetheart is the full package—affectionate, easy-going, and always up for whatever your day brings. Social Butterfly Emmitt LOVES other dogs and wants to greet every furry friend he sees. He’s never been reactive and even had a chihuahua bestie! Cats? No problem—he coexists peacefully. And when it comes to kids, Emmitt lights up! While he doesn’t live with any currently, he adores every child he meets. Home Life Ready Fully housebroken and doggy door trained, Emmitt also knows how to settle in his crate when needed. He’s great on leash after the initial excitement wears off and knows his basic commands like “off, sit, stay, go, and lay down.” Foodie & Car Ride Fanatic Highly food motivated (read: easily trainable), Emmitt is happiest when there’s a treat in sight or he’s buckled up for a car ride—he absolutely LOVES hitting the road! Bath Time Champ & Cuddle Pro Bath time? Emmitt is chill and just sits back while you do your thing. He thrives on affection—seriously, this boy will melt into your lap, snuggle close, and wear your skin if you let him. He just wants to be near his person. Play & Personality Zoomies? Oh yes. Toys and dog wrestling? Not so much. Emmitt's play style is more about dashing around and then flopping on the couch like a seasoned pro. He’s wonderfully flexible—ready for a walk, but totally content with a lazy movie night. A Quick Note Emmitt's one bad habit is door darting, so keep an eye when opening doors. But with a bit of awareness, it’s totally manageable. From His Foster Family “Emmitt is the most lovable, all-around happy boy. He is going to make the best companion in any type of home.” With his huge heart and even bigger smile, Emmitt  is just waiting to bring joy and snuggles to his forever family. Could that be you? Please consider sponsoring Emmitt with either a one-time or monthly tax-deductible donation. Your donation will help It's The Pits with day-to-day care, including food, vaccinations, flea treatment, treats and toys. Click on the Sponsor This Pet link above to make your donation today.
