My story

Raccoon is a sweet boy that is still skittish at times. Raccoon and his sister, Little Peach were so scared when they came in. Raccoon amd Little Peach have been here over 200 days, or 6 months. These two would do great if they went home together. Raccoon may take a little more time to open up, but he will. Raccoon is a handsome 1-year-old grey tabby with beautiful stunning eyes that will capture your heart. Please just give Raccoon some time to settle in. Raccoon is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. Please give Raccoon and possibly his sister, Peach a chance! Despite his name, you would never find this kitty in the trash! Raccoon loves the cushy comfy indoor cat life despite him growing up with little to no human interaction as an outdoor roaming kitten. Raccoon is usually draped on some kind of furniture that has soft comfy bedding and/or a nice sunny spot to sleep in. His big round tummy is proof of his exceptional appetite and how he typically chooses to spend his day. Doing nothing.Raccoon came into the rescue a surrender from a volunteer who was going to rehome them herself when we offered to help. She had been trapping and neutering cats in her area to help reduce the numbers of roaming intact cats. Raccoon was a kitten when he first got to be an "indoor" cat so he was quite under socialized. He's come a long ways to opting in to being petted and handled. He still doesn't always trust it, but once you get him going, he melts pretty quickly. Trust is slow to build with him, but it does build the more times we work with him.Raccoon gets along with other cats and kittens, but he usually doesn't choose to interact with them since that would infringe on his lazy nap time. No one disturbs him, and he doesn't disturb anyone else. He doesn't seem particularly attached to his sister, Little Peach, either. He doesn't mind dogs, but boisterous ones do scare him a bit. As long as he has a way to escape and the dogs have or learn to have manners, he could live in a home with dogs. Raccoon could also live with kids as long as they don't chase or grab at him and learn how to respect him.If you're interested in Raccoon, please contact A.W.W. by calling or texting 715-501-3000, emailing at rescue.aww@gmail.com, messaging our Facebook page, or visit our website www.animalwelfarewi.org to fill out an adoption application under our Services and Adopt pages.
