My story

Onyx von Oelsnitz is a beautiful beautiful 18 month-old German Shepherd. Young and playful, mid-sized Onyx is friendly with everyone, people and dogs alike, and always ready for a fun adventure. He's sweet and affectionate and will bury his head in your arms. Super motivated by treats, he knows his basic commands including Sit and Down. He loves his outings at the rescue, including running alongside a bike. He also loves socializing and gets along great with dogs. His tail wags and wags when he meets another dog, and he's always happy to play in playgroups; he might initiate play but is submissive and knows when to settle down. While he's not for cats, he has done well meeting small dogs. So come to Westside soon and meet this fun and friendly guy! Rescued by Good Sam from the South LA animal shelter and surrendered to us. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
