Some fur in the hand is worth a Ferdinand in your home...or however that proverb goes. Let's not get bogged down on the semantics, that way you'll have way more time to spend enjoying Ferdie's antics! He was a tad nervous being at our shelter, but quickly blossomed into a very loving and cuddly critter in his foster home- and he would love even more to bond with a forever family! He is a lovely little lap cat / wand toy wizard / couch potato hybrid, who can be cuddly with a nice splash of playful and chatty. He may be nervous in new situations, but once adjusted he's always happy for attention, while also independent enough to keep himself occupied if you're busy or away. He's happy to be your accountabilibuddy in the mornings, to remind you that it's breakfast time when you wake, but then he's happy to give you space and nap the rest of the day while you work. Ferdinand was surrendered by his previous owners because of some litter box struggles, which started after his declaw procedure and several pounds of weight gain occurred. He arrived at PAWS clocking in at 16.58 pounds, though after moving into foster care, he's slimmed down to a much more trim 14lbs and has had zero litterbox issues! He also gets a wee bit of Gabapentin to ease any potential foot pain post-declaw, and takes it beautifully in his meals. Ferdie would benefit from an experienced adult-only home as the only kitty, to ensure his space stays as low-stress and low-commotion as possible. Ferdinand's owner will need to be diligent in keeping his food portions and weight controlled so his pounds don't pack back on and cause his feet more discomfort again in the future.
