Tails has the softest, floppiest ears you have ever seen, but they are more decorative as he is deaf. Luckily, his eyes and nose work great, so he still has a good sense of the world around him. His foster family (since May) has this to say: Tails is a wonderful dog! (Quick summary: house-broken, lives well with cat and teen kids, easy to walk) - Very quiet in a home - would be a great apartment dog! - Travels well. Quiet and calm in car. - He is very house broken and works hard to communicate with you when he needs to go outside. We have not practiced sign language with him too much so more teaching would benefit him more but since he loves food so much he is very quick to adjust and learn! Some of the signals we have taught so far did not take much time at all; he is such a smart boy! - Tails is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night and patiently waits in his crate when alone. He can also be left alone outside of the crate and does not tear or chew on anything in the house (except his toys of course). - On the leash outside, he walks very easily, occasionally gets led by his nose (like a classic hound), but does not pull hard or drag you. Goes on jogs with his foster mom! - He is very affectionate, loving all things like food and pets. His foster mom says that if you pet his floppy ears he completely melts into you! - Does very well with 14 year old kid. - Excited with their cat but keeps his distance and listens to corrections - Loves people and strangers - Dog friendly, gets excited with new dogsTails is very treat motivated and could be easily trained with hand signals. He is a quick learner who is eager to please. If you love hounds, Tails is a good one. His sweet and affectionate nature will win you over in no time.
